The Art of Speed

My Opinion: the world's most sleek and stylish sports car so far invented.  Jaguar E-Type

  1. I concur. Long ago these were not outrageously priced used with worn out motors. I understand a Ford 302 could be easily swapped in to the chassis

I elected to put a 302 into a '50 Ford hakf ton with a crashbox tranny, mostly because I didn't want to trouble myself to hunt doen a Jag.

No regrets. The '50 carried me everywhere daily for over a decade. Wish I still had it.

  2. I agree. It looks like it's going 100 MPH standing still. I was fortunate enough to own one in the late 60's. Still miss that car.

    1. It's "Connaught Green". British Racing Green has never existed other than in the minds of journalists.

  3. Late to the party, but IMHO the D Type had better lines

  4. I always loved the look myself, but for reasons I'll never know my Dad was completely unimpressed & didn't like them at all, not even a little bit; he thought that anyone owning one was a complete fool.

He'd actually get angry just seeing one. Apparently he thought they were too slender & should have been wider between the wheels- but his reaction was way over-the-top and I could never figure out why. His reaction was so vehement, so furious, that I just didn't ever want to discuss it with him.

He's now passed on, so it's a mystery that I'll never unravel. It's sad; to me they always looked like a rocket-ship for the road, and I always wanted one; in my imagination they'd come with a parachute!
