  2. 453rd operations group had a circle J designation on the tail and flew B-24s. Jimmy Stewart's group. Maybe they also had wing markings?

    Triangle = 1st Division
    Circle = 2nd Division
    Square = 3rd Division

  4. At least some of the WWII bombers had tail flashes from where they were based. For instance, K was for RAF Kimbolton. On some of the B-52G models that are in the boneyard now you'll find a big letter K. That's because they were part of the 379th Bombardment Group whose heritage goes back to there.
