After a run of over 200 years, the Encyclopedia Britannica is ending their print edition.

First printed in 1768, it will stop being available when the current stock runs out.

The top year of sales was 1990, with 120,000 sets sold, but only six years later sales were down to 40,000, and now they are negligible.   That is how fast the world has changed.  It's like when you finally got rid of the rotary phone, and saw your last public phone booth, a milestone has passed, an old era has ended and a new one has begun.

Frankly, I'm amazed you can still buy it in printed form.

Naturally, the Britannica will still be available on line.
